Frequently asked questions
What is a configuration?
A configuration describes one Consent Management Platform (CMP) setup. If you’re running multiple websites with different data processing services, you may wish to use one configuration per domain. Other use cases could be different configurations for different legal frameworks (e.g. GDPR, TCF, CCPA).
In our FAQ, we’ll often refer to configurations as Settings-IDs. The Settings-ID is a unique identifier of a specific Consent Management Platform. It’s used in the Usercentrics script that you’ll implement on your website. Our system will use the Settings-ID to define exactly how your specific CMP should look like and behave.
How do I set up my first configuration after signing up with Usercentrics?
You can find step-by-step instructions here.
Why do I need a configuration to set up the CMP?
Each configuration will be given a unique Settings-ID. This identifier will be used by our system to define how your Consent Management Platform should look like and behave. As soon as you set up a configuration, you’ll find your Usercentrics script with the Settings-ID as unique identifier in section Implementation of your Admin Interface. Simply copy this script and implement it as per our documentation to bring your CMP onto your website.
How many configurations can I create?
There are virtually no limitations to the number of configurations you can create.
How can I add configurations to my company?
When you use the Advanced or Premium plan, we will set up a company for you in the Account Interface. Any settings you create will be automatically added to this company, so you can manage your users' access rights either one by one or for all settings at once.
