Ensuring that Google's privacy policies are up to date

Google’s EU user consent policy requires that Google’s Privacy Policy be directly accessible from your consent banner. Google has changed this specific URL recently and to continue to comply with this policy requirement, you need to ensure that the correct URL to Google’s Privacy Policy is included in your custom Data Processing Service (DPS) templates for any Google services you use.

This is the new Google Privacy URL: https://business.safety.google/privacy/.

This link is already integrated and updated within all our pre-defined Google DPS templates. By using these templates, you can effortlessly meet the compliance requirements without needing to manually update the templates.

What you need to do

Update your custom template

If you're using a custom template, you will manually have to add Google’s Privacy Policy link to your template.

To do this, please take the following steps:

1. Navigate to Service Settings using the main menu, select the Data Processing Services tab, and expand the (Google) service which privacy policy URL you need to update.
   Click the button labelled Edit DPS Details to being editing.
2. Scroll down to the Policy of processor section and click the Edit button to replace the old URL with the updated version.

Alternatively, switch to a predefined DPS template

Our default templates already include the updated URLs.

To add one of these default templates, please follows these steps:

1. Select Service Settings from the main menu, select the Data Processing Services tab, and press the button labeled Add DPS via Database.
2. Select the data processing service(s) from Google that are in use on your website.
3. Select the appropriate category and ensure that Keep Service automatically updated to latest version is selected.
   Click the button labelled Add DPS to add the service to your configuration.
4. Remember to publish your changes by pressing the Publish button in the lower left corner.
