Usercentrics CMP relies on a scheduled scan to check your website and find the tracking technologies implemented in it. This scan can create traffic spikes in web analytics platforms like GA4, but it can be filtered out setting the IPs of the scanner as internal traffic. This guide explains how to set Usercentrics scan IPs as internal traffic in GA4.
In you GA4 account follow these steps:
Go to Admin → Data Streams → [Your Web Stream].
Under Configure tag settings → Define internal traffic, click Create.
Add the IP addresses (or regex for multiple IPs) that belong to the scanners. You can use the following regex which contains all IPs mentioned in our documentation https://support.usercentrics.com/hc/en-us/articles/14028762867228-How-to-whitelist-Usercentrics-DPS-Scanner-IP-Addresses:
(20\.223\.9\.138|34\.107\.102\.47|34\.141\.10\.24|34\.159\.86\.126|34\.159\.168\.195|34\.159\.247\.222|35\.198\.78\.207|35\.198\.137\.6|35\.198\.160\.49|35\.246\.143\.2|35\.246\.191\.14)Set traffic_type_value to internal.
Click Save.
Back in Admin → Data Settings → Data Filters, click Create filter.
Choose Internal traffic, name it (e.g. Exclude Usercentrics Scanner), set Filter operation to Exclude, and match the traffic_type to internal.
Start with Testing mode to verify, then switch to Active once confirmed.
