Will users appear more than once in the report, if they revisit the website or change their consent?
Yes, consents are aggregated over night and the aggregation only uses the last preference of each deviceAuditId (“user“) of the day.
deviceAuditId
("user").E.g.: User changed 3 times their preference on Monday (true, false, true), two times on Tuesday (false, true)→ report result: 2 Opt-ins in the report, one for Monday, one for Tuesday.
What kind of reporting does Usercentrics offer to customers in version 1?
We offer two types of reporting/analytics for our customers to analyse their consent data.
Dashboard - daily (available to all customers)
- Accept All/ Accept All: The user has clicked the “Accept All” button in the first level without looking for detailed information.
- Deny All/ Deny All: The user has clicked the “Deny All” button in the first level without looking for detailed information.
- Granular: The user searched for more details before specifying their preferences (click in the second level or custom Consent settings).
Opt-in report - monthly (available for Business and Enterprise customers)

What is the difference between implicit and explicit?
Explicit means that the user has actively taken a consent decision and interacted with the CMP.
E.g. a user clicked on the “Accept All” button.
Implicit means that there hasn’t been an active decision or action by the user regarding the consent. E.g. if the user doesn’t interact with the CMP at all, she implicitly opts out of all non-essential services and implicitly opts in to all essential services.
Implicit consents occur directly with the page impression. All services that are set to “accepted by default” will receive an implicit opt-in, all others an implicit opt-out. If your visitor now clicks a button in the CMP like “accept all” to save their consent, we’ll track the explicit consents that are now generated. Those replace the implicit consents. Only the explicit consents will show up in your reporting.
Where do I find the documentation about the Privacy Actions shown in the Opt-in Report?
The documentation about the Privacy Actions can be found in our technical documentation: https://docs.usercentrics.com/#/privacy-actions
Our list of reporting features in the different plans can be found on our website: https://usercentrics.com/pricing/

What's the difference between the statistics in the Analytics Dashboard and the Opt-in Report in the Usercentrics Admin Interface?
The Analytics section in the Admin interface gives you an overview of how your users interact with the CMP. It only takes into account explicit interactions.
- Accept All: The user clicked the Accept All button in the first level without looking for detailed information.
- Deny All: The user clicked the Deny All button in the first level without looking for detailed information.
- Granular: The user searched for more details before indicating their preferences (click into the second level or custom Consent settings).
The opt-in report also takes into account implicit interactions.
For example: a user who does not interact with your CMP implicitly opts-in to all non-essential services.
How should I format the Opt-in Report to get valid results for one Data Processing Service?
Take a look at the reporting for a single data processing services that is important for you.
- To do so, log in to the Admin Interface and download the report for a specific period:
- Then you calculate the total opt-in rate for that service:
In the following example we are taking a look at AppNexus. Therefore we filter our CSV file for the processor name AppNexus. Now we calculate sums: 245,867 visitors gave the opt-in for the service & 137,771 didn´t. Finally we calculate the consent rate out of the service: sum of opt-ins divided by sum of opt ins & sum of opt-outs. The consent rate here is 64.09 %.
Which calculations do I need to use to calculate my total OptIn and OptOut rates?
- Download the CSV file of the Opt-in Reports in the Reports section of your Admin Interface.
- For the total opt-in rate you can calculate the sum of opt-ins & opt-outs. In our case, we have 41,378,350 opt-ins and 13,943,629 opt-outs. Finally we calculate a total consent rate out of the sums. Therefore you take the sum of opt-ins divided by the sum of opt ins & the sum of opt-outs.
The total opt-in rate here is 74.80 %.
How is it possible, that essential services receive opt-outs?
Bots like crawlers act differently than browsers.
That is why it is possible that some essential services could be opted out, even though those opt-outs will not be generated by a “real” visitor.
Can I automatically download the reports via an API? (CMP Version 1)
At the moment, there is not such option. We are already working on the evaluation of this feature request and will update this item as soon as we have further information.
What do the different columns in the Opt-in report mean?
settingsId |
The Settings-ID of the Consent Management Platform configuration for which data are shown in the report. When logged in to the Usercentrics Admin Interface, the Settings-ID is the last part of the URL behind the = |
TemplateId |
The Template ID of the Data Processing Service added to the CMP. The Template ID can be found in the detailed view of each Data Processing Service in the Admin Interface: |

The action that saved the consent preference. All actions are documented here. |
actionType |
Information whether a consent decision has been made explicitly or implicitly. An explanation for both options can be found here. |

Amount of Optins a service received as a last consent decision per day in the reported time period grouped by action and action type. |
OptOut |
Amount of Optouts a service received as a last consent decision per day in the reported time period grouped by action and action type. |
What opt-in rates are customary in the market?
There is no clear definition in the market yet and each customer calculates the data to their own preference and need.
Where can I find documentation about the privacy actions shown in the opt-in report?
Documentation on data protection measures can be found in our technical documentation:
Usercentrics Documentation
Please note that the opt-in report is available to our Business and Enterprise customers.

Can I download the reports automatically via an API?
premium add-onAnalytics Data Export Service.
Is it possible to see the overall bounce rate in the reports?
No.
If a user does not interact with the CMP, there is an implicit OptOut with the "oninitialpageload" action for all non-essential services in the report on that particular day, but that does not mean that user bounced, it just means that there was no interaction with the CMP.
Why doesn't each service have the same number of interactions?
Every midnight (UTC) all approvals are aggregated.
What happened before is then counted as "1".
Meaning: A person/user has the possibility to give 1 consent for each service every day. If that user decides to change consent for a particular data processing service the next day, it will only count for that service.
Meaning: The difference comes from visitors who changed their preferences only for certain services during the reporting period.
How is it possible for essential services to receive opt-outs?
Bots like crawlers behave differently than browsers.
Therefore, it is possible that some essential services can be deselected, although these deselections are not generated by a "real" visitor.
Which "ID" means what?
Consent ID
This ID identifies a specific consent decision of the user for a processing service - i.e. a kind of consent document. If the user rejects Google Analytics, for example, a unique Consent ID is assigned to this decision. The Consent ID is the result of the Controller ID, Processor ID and Settings ID.
Controller ID
This is a unique but random ID that we assign to a user's device when they first visit and store in the device itself. We need this ID to assign consent data to a user/device.
Processor ID
This is an ID that we associate with a data processing service (e.g. Google Analytics) for which a user can give consent or opt-out.
Settings ID
Our product is configured by our customers themselves via the so-called settings (display, texts, etc.). Via this settings ID, our tool knows which configuration is to be used for which website.
How do I know which bots are being detected and excluded from the Interaction Analytics graphs?
Detection of Bots
In addition to a library, we use several mechanisms to detect bots for Interaction Analytics based on the user agent:
- All user agents which contain ‘Bot/’
- All user agents which contain ‘AmazonProductDiscovery/1.0’
- All user agents which contain ‘cXensebot/’
- All user agents which contain ‘AhrefsSiteAudit/’
Implications for Interaction Analytics
In case the bot is detected by the user agent, it will be marked as a bot:
- The interaction by the bot will not appear in the Interaction Analytics graphs in the Admin Interface.
- In the downloadable raw data, the interaction / CMP display will appear with “browser” = “bot”.
What kind of reporting does Usercentrics offer to customers in version 2?
