You can now choose whether vendors are allowed to ask users for consent to TCF Special Features 1 and 2 directly from the Admin Interface. This gives you explicit control over two sensitive processing activities:
- Special Feature 1 — Use precise geolocation data
- Special Feature 2 — Actively scan device characteristics for identification
Please note
Before You Begin
- You must have an active TCF configuration in your account.
- You need Admin access to the Admin Interface
- Confirm which Special Features your vendors require before making any changes.
Steps
Step 1 Open your TCF configuration
Log in to the Account Interface.
Navigate to Configurations and select the TCF configuration you want to edit.
Step 2 Go to the Special Features section
Navigate your TCF configuration, go to the TCF Vendors tab under the Service Settings section.
Scroll down past the Publisher Restrictions section.
Locate the Special Features section directly below it.
Step 3 Configure each Special Feature
For each Special Feature (1 and 2), choose the setting that applies:
- Review the name and description in the first column to confirm which feature you are configuring.
- In the second column (Choose Legal Basis), select the appropriate option from the dropdown.
Step 4 Check your Stack 1 selection (if applicable)
Stack 1 includes both Special Features. If both Special Features are completely restricted, Stack 1 will be turned off automatically and won’t be available to select.
- After setting your Special Features preferences, scroll to the Stacks section.
- Confirm your stack selection is still valid.
- If Stack 1 is greyed out, choose a different stack before saving.
Step 5 Save and publish your changes
Click Save Draft to apply your configuration, then click Publish.
Your updated settings will be reflected on your web consent banner automatically.
What to Expect
Once published, your consent banner will reflect only the Special Features you have chosen to include:
- Any Special Feature set to Not Allowed will be excluded from the banner and from the consent signal sent to your vendors.
- Any Special Feature using Keep Legal Basis from GVL will continue to appear on the banner as before.
Troubleshooting
Stack 1 covers both Special Features. If either Special Feature is fully restricted, Stack 1 becomes unavailable. Re-enable at least one Special Feature or choose a different stack.
Ensure you clicked Save Draft and then Publish after making your changes. If the banner has still not updated, try republishing your configuration using the Publish button.
This section only appears in TCF configurations. Open a configuration with TCF enabled and scroll below the Publisher Restrictions section under the TCF Vendors tab to find it.
Verify that you have Admin-level permissions in the Admin Interface. If the problem persists, contact your account manager or Technical Support for access assistance.
