Getting the plugin
Our WordPress plugin allows you to implement Usercentrics CMP on WordPress and additionally allows you to enable/disable additional features.
Implementing Usercentrics CMP using the plugin is particularly important if you intend to make use of the auto blocking feature, to ensure services don't load before they have permission to do so.
To get the plugin:
- Click on the Plugins menu item and select Add new plugin.
- Using the search bar on the right, search for "Usercentrics".
- Install the Cookie banner plugin for WordPress using the Install Now button.
Configuring the plugin
Select Cookiebot from the menu and press the Connect my account button or select Settings from the menu.
General settings
Enter your settings ID, select whether you want to comply with a single or multiple privacy laws, and click the Connect account button to proceed.
If you're unsure how to find your settings ID, you can check out this guide.
Initial implementation complete, the consent banner will now be displayed on your website.
Additional settings will now become available:
- TCF integration
- Blocking mode
- Hide cookie popup
This allows you to enable the Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF). This is a feature intended for publishers.
You can read more about this feature in our support guide.
Blocking Mode
This allows you to enable the Automatic Data Processing Service blocking feature.
This is a recommended feature for most users.
Hide cookie popup
Selecting this prevents the banner from being implemented on your website. This is useful if you intend to implement Usercentrics CMP through a 3rd party tool like Google Tag Manager.
Additional Settings
Here you can select whether to keep the plugin updated automatically, which we obviously recommend.
You can also choose whether you want the consent banner to be loaded in the WordPress admin.
Google Tag Manager
Here you can choose to implement Google Consent Mode along with Usercentrics CMP.
You only need to switch this feature on, enter your container id, and if you renamed GTM's data layer to something other than "dataLayer" you can enter it here.
Google Consent Mode
Here you can choose to enable/disable support for Google Consent Mode.
The is "on" by default and the recommended setting.
Privacy Policy Sync
Here you can find a short code which you can use to embed a privacy policy on your privacy policy page.
You can select which legislation you want to display; GDPR or TCF.
You can set what your privacy policy should include; services, categories, categies and services, or a single service. For the latter option you will need to identify the service id of this particular service.
Lastly, you can include toggles on your privacy policy that allows your users to opt-in or opt-out of the services and/or categories you've chosen to include.
Plugins
No plugins have been added in the current version, but in the future you'll find plugins here that enhance the functionality of plugins that require consent.
