When you create your Usercentrics CMP account, it will have default settings applied to it. These settings affect the Usercentrics banner behavior, the look and feel of the banner, as well as the content shown in the banner.

Banner behavior
Privacy Trigger
- Default Behavior: The privacy trigger appears at the bottom left corner of the page when the banner is not displayed (referred to as the "privacy button"). The default icon is a fingerprint.
- Customization Options:
- Users can move the privacy trigger to the right side of the page.
- The icon can be changed, or the trigger can be hidden and replaced with a privacy link.
Google Consent Mode (GCM)
- Default Setting: GCM is enabled on the banner by default.
- Customization: Users can disable GCM in the settings.
Banner Display
- Default Display: The banner appears for all users.
- Customization: Users can set the banner to display only for users in the EU and EEA.
Banner content
Banner Message
- Default Message: A predefined message is provided.
- Customization: Users can modify the banner message via the interface.
Services and Categories
- Default Categories:
- Essential: Contains the Usercentrics Consent Management Platform data processing service.
- Marketing: Contains the Google Ads data processing service.
- Customization Options:
- Users can add more categories and services via the interface.
- Services in the "Essential" category have consent enabled by default, and this consent cannot be revoked.
Data Processing Service (DPS) Information
- Default Visibility: All DPS information is visible to users.
- Customization: Customers can limit the visibility of DPS details via the interface.

Banner Layout Overview

GDPR First Layer (Privacy Banner)
- Default Display: The banner appears as a bar at the bottom of the page (referred to as the "privacy banner").
- Customization Options:
- Users can change the display to a dialog box at the center of the page (referred to as the "privacy wall").

GDPR Second Layer (Privacy Settings)
- Default Display: The second layer of the banner appears in the center of the page (referred to as the "privacy settings center").
- Customization Options:
- Users can adjust the display to appear on the left or right side of the page (referred to as the "privacy settings side").
- By default, the "Categories" tab is displayed first. Users can modify the interface to show the "Services" tab first.
Styling Options
- Colors
- Default Colors: The main colors are blue and white.
- Customization: Users can customize the colors of the layout and buttons.
- Page Background
- Default Setting: The background shadow is enabled, and the overlay is set to black with some opacity.
- Customization: Users can disable both the shadow and overlay and change their colors.
- Logo
- Default Display: No logo is displayed on the first layer by default.
- Customization: Users can add their company logo to the first layer.
Button Configurations
- GDPR First Layer
- Default Buttons:
- "Deny All" and "Accept All" buttons are available.
- A language switcher icon is provided (default language English and additional languages based on customer settings).
- A "More Information" link opens the second layer.
- Customization Options:
- Users can add links to the legal notice and privacy policy.
- The "Deny All" button can be removed.
- The "More Information" link can be changed to a button or integrated into the banner message.
- The language switcher icon can be hidden.
