Here at Usercentrics we understand that it can feel like an insurmountable task to create a privacy policy from scratch. You may be asking yourself: "What information needs to be included?" and "Where do I even begin?"
For this reason we've created a Privacy Policy Generator that takes all the guessing out of the equation. Simply fill in the fields and after only 3 relatively simple steps you'll have a privacy policy that you can either download, or embed in your website using a script tag.

Creating your Privacy Policy
Creating a privacy is quick and easy, and can be done in a matter of minutes.
You'll need to enter the following information:
Once you've entered this information, you can copy an HTML snippet and inject it into your privacy policy page.
General settings
If you want to create a privacy policy you can get started using the Generate Privacy Policy button.
On the first screen you'll need to name your privacy policy and choose a few general settings.
- Enter a name in the field labeled Policy Name.
- Select the languages in which you want the privacy policy to be displayed in, in the selection field labeled Select language1.
- Select the legal framework2 that you want to use in the section labeled Legal framework.
1 Only a single language is available for the free version.
2 Only GDPR is available in the free version.
Company information
On the next screen you will need to enter your company's contact information:
- Company name
- Contact email
- Phone number
- Website URL
- Whether you have a Data Protection Officer and their email address
Data handling information
Lastly, you'll need to enter information related to how your organisation handles information. These details are arguably the most important part of your privacy policy.
These details include:
- The products and services your organisation provides.
- Whether and which user data you collect.
- If and what data protection measures you have in place.
- Whether you share user data and with whom.
- A link to your cookie policy page.
- Whether you transfer data outside of the EEA.
- Whether your website has an age requirement, and what that requirement is.
- Whether you ask for consent for direct marketing, which types of direct marketing, and whether you have a mechanism to withdraw consent.
- Within what timeframe users can expect to be notified of data breaches, and how these notifications are made.
- Whether you want to notify users of privacy policy updates, and whether they will need to renew their consent in such a case.
Your finished Privacy Policy
Your privacy policy is now finished and ready to be implemented on your website.
You can now copy the HTML snippet and implement it on your website. Inject the snippet in body section of your privacy policy page, in the exact spot where you want the privacy policy to be displayed.
The content of your generated privacy policy will automatically be updated if you make changes to it in the future, you won't have to update the snippet after you've implemented it on your page.
If you're not ready to immediately inject the snippet, or need someone else to do this for you, you can always copy the snippet from the Privacy Policy Generator overview page by clicking the button on the right side of the privacy policy.
