Passing Usercentrics Preference Manager data to Zapier for integration with other platforms

This guide explains how to transfer preferences captured by Usercentrics Preference Manager (UC PM) to Zapier, which can then relay the data to other platforms, such as Mailchimp.

Integration overview

When a user submits new preferences through a UC PM widget, a pre-configured webhook is triggered, sending the preferences to Zapier. Zapier captures the webhook, parses the payload, and assigns the values to variables based on the selected preference options. These variables can then be used in subsequent steps of your Zapier workflow to update other platforms.

Steps to set up the integration

Step 1: Configure the UC PM Widget

In UC PM, create a widget with the preference options you want to collect and pass to other platforms. These options will be linked to the preferences submitted by users.

Step 2: Create a new Zap with Webhooks as the trigger

1. In the Zapier interface, create a new Zap.
2. Set the first step to Webhooks by Zapier with the Catch Hook event, which will capture data sent from UC PM.
   

Step 3: Set up the Webhook in UC PM

1. In the UC PM Admin UI, create a new webhook using the URL from Zapier.
2. Configure the webhook to send a payload that includes the Titles and Values of the selected options. This ensures that the data is easy to parse in Zapier.
   
3. After setting up the webhook, run a test:
   • Submit a test request from your UC PM Preference Center to trigger the webhook.
   • Verify in Zapier that the webhook has been captured along with the submitted data.
4. Test the Zap in Zapier:
   • Zapier will catch the test submission and display the data payload.
   • This payload includes user-specific variables, such as UserIDs and preference values. These values will be available in future Zapier actions, with each preference option returning a boolean value (true or false) depending on the user's selection.
     

Output and next steps

The output from the webhook trigger will include all the necessary data in standard variables. You can use these variables to perform further actions within Zapier, such as updating subscriber preferences in Mailchimp or other platforms.

Each preference option in the UC PM widget will be represented as a variable in Zapier, enabling you to pass the captured preferences seamlessly to your desired platforms.
