Auto-population is a feature that updates your CMP configuration with all new Data Processing Services (DPS) found by the scanner automatically. This ensures that your CMP banner is always kept up to date with the latest scan result.
What it does
Once the auto-population scan setting is enabled it will be active for all future scans.
All mapped DPS will automatically be added and published to your CMP configuration.
When a DPS was added to your CMP configuration via the auto-population flow, it will be listed under Service Settings on the Data Processing Services tab with the icon.
The auto-populated DPS will pre-categorized based on information from the Usercentrics DPS repository. You can change the categorization for each DPS depending on your own interpretation at any given time.
Please note
The auto-population feature only adds DPS to your configuration. It will never remove a DPS from your configuration.
How it can be disabled
The auto-population feature can be disabled under Service Settings on the DPS Scanner tab.
When you press the Scan Settings button you can set the DPS Management setting to “Manual”.
This gives you full control over the settings for each service, but obviously requires more work on your part.
Ignoring a specific DPS while still using auto-population
When the auto-population feature has added a specific DPS which you do NOT want listed on your consent banner you can remove it from your CMP config by checking the box labelled Deactivate Service under the service settings of that specific service.
The DPS will remain present under your DPS Scanner overview and be marked as Ignored Service. This allows you to unignore the service should you change your mind at a later point.
Ignoring a DPS prevents it from being auto-populated again.
You can also delete a service by clicking View Service and pressing the icon.
It will then be listed in the DPS Scanner overview as Todo. You can then choose to ignore the service by clicking its corresponding Ignore link.
Potential pitfalls
- Auto-population can't add DPS to your configuration if you have customized your CMP categories.
- A DPS must have been assigned a category it to be automatically populated.
